SPIES' NOT-SO-TALL THOUGHTS

Week 4

Game 1: Danny's Mad Cows vs. Crocker's Roughnecks

Game 1 was a game of ironmen. The Roughnecks had 4 1/2 players on friday, with Crocker's back out of whack, Chira succumbing to a cold, and Joanna nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, the Mad Cows fared little better, without the help of Lawson, Joseph and Maegan. With Jay in attendance, both teams had an extra player for a half. He contributed 5 goals and 8 assists to the effort (some for Yellow, some for Red). He was probably more effective for the Cows in the 2nd half, as the Roughnecks started to tire out. The Roughnecks managed to hold out with another stellar effort from Neil - 7 goals and 5 assists. Evan was also a major factor with his 1 goal and 5 assists. I also contributed 3 goals and 3 assists, but most importantly a foot-block on Ariel who embarassed me in the endzone in front of my parents (you bastard). Ariel had the Cows' best showing of the year with 5 goals and 3 assists. Still, they fell to 1-3 after week 4.

Surprise of the Day: I ended the game in one piece. The last time my parents watched me play, I got a hole and a bunch of stitches in my arm. Phwew.

Game 2: Becker's Peckers vs. The Dude's Dudes

(I had to leave after game 1, so everything I have to say is from the videotape) Again, for some reason people weren't showing up for week 4. The Dudes were without the help of Jesse and Bernie, and the Pecker's without Julia and Sam. The lack of Sam turned out to be devastating for the Peckers. Without Sam, the tallest dude on the field was SmallFry. With this, Korber and Tall were unmatched. Korber racked up 8 more goals (22 on the season) and 3 assists, while Tall put in 2 goals and 5 assists. There was only so much that the short Peckers could do against the unusually tall Dudes. Still, Green held in the game for part of the first half, taking the lead right off the bat. But the Dudes quickly took charge. With Chirlin's girlfriend in attendance, he recorded 2 goals and 7 assists. (Another stellar performance in front of the wife.) And Korber had a greatest? I hear it was sweet... Healey missed it. Instead i see Korber jumping, Korber catching, Korber throwing, tape cuts off, tape comes back on, Healey says "Shit, I missed that." Anyway, If it weren't for a rocky start, the Dudes would be competing for first place. It could be an interesting week 5 against the #2 team, the Roughnecks...

Surprises of the Day: 1) Vag's spike when the Peckers are down something like 7 goals. 2) Jeff Demaso tearing it up. 5 goals and 1 assist, Jeff was a big factor for the Dudes.

Game 3: Bill's Middle Infield Action vs. Skipper's Skipping Schoolgirls/Bourbon's Mardi Gras Mishaps

(Again, everything I have to say can be discarded) There is very little tape for this game, and what tape there is is pretty crappy. All I can really say about this game is that the Schoolgirls/Mardi Gras Mishaps go to 4-0 with another convincing victory. Why? Because everyone on that team contributes. Funboy - 3 assists, Eunich - 3 goals, Snatch - 1 assist, 1 point block, Nate - 3 goals, 3 assists, Skipper - 3 goals, 2 assists, Healey - 2 goals, 3 assists, and Fungirl - 2 goals, 1 assist. When you have a team where every single player contributes, they are going to be hard to beat. Which is the case here... The MIA did as much as they could, with another good performance from Potter - 1 goal and 6 assists, and a lot of help from Blake.Barnes - 3 goals and 2 assists. Still, not enough.

Surprise of the Day: The schoolgirls didn't look as hot as normal, so i hear... 10 turns, flow wasn't happening like normal. Feel free to disagree... I wasn't there.
