Week 5
Game 1: Crocker's Roughnecks vs. The Dude's Dudes
The definitely 2 vs. 3 playoff preview. If The Dudes win, they get the #2 seed and the homefield advantage. If the Roughnecks win, they get the #2 seed and the subsequent homefield advantage. In the end, who really gives a rat's ass? This game was important for one thing however: #1 Neil Palliver vs. #2 Korber. And the two matched up against each other the whole game! (insert surprised face here). However, Neil ended the season on top of the ratings after shutting Korber down - 0 GOALS! 0 GOALS! After 20-some-odd goals in the last three games, this was a big surprise. Neil managed to put away 3 goals and 1 assist to further his lead in the Power Rankings. Congratulations. You win a new pair of khakis and a new pink hat. TallMatt had another nice performance with 3 goals and 4 assists, and Chirlin ran me around the court for 2 goals and 2 assists. Evan had another encounter with the wall, this time spraining his ankle. In the end, the difference in this game was turnovers. The Roughnecks (in an uncharacteristic performance) had a lot of trouble holding onto the disc: 13 turnovers.
Surprise of the Day: Korber's zero goals. I would never have guessed that. The 2-3 playoff game will be interesting w/ another Korber-Neil matchup.
Game 2: Becker's Peckers vs. Skipper's Skipping Schoolgirls/Bourbon's Mardi Gras Mishaps
No Sam, no Verbal, no chance. Especially against the uncontested Schoolgirls. Even though the Skipper's had probably their shakiest performance of the year, they managed another blowout. Nate, another sweet game - 6 goals, 2 assists. Skipper, wow - 4 goals 2 assists. Zach - finally busting out w/ a sweet 5 assists. Not much to say about this game except: ANGUS GREATEST? WHAT?
Surprises of the Day: The Peckers took a quick lead, scoring first. They even held it to 4-4. But after that, the Schoolgirls rolled to a win with a 9-2 run.
Game 3: Danny's Mad Cows vs. Bill's Middle Infield Action
This is the game... After a Peckers loss, the winner of the Mad Cows and the MIA goes to the playoffs. Exciting the entire way through. It was hard fought and of course, in important games, it goes to overtime. I can't really remember anything that happened in this game except Ariel was ridiculous - 6 goals! 6 assists! And he was laying out, b/c he's stupid. Anyway, Cooter held his team in the game with 4 goals and 4 assists of his own. Elliot, again, was the defensive force for the MIA, with 3 more. So, it goes to overtime. And Ariel threw his fire to get posession of the disc. But the Mad Cows turned it over pretty quickly. But the fire wasn't wasted... the Mad Cows had the fire gods by their side, and they took the game 14-13. Playoffs...
Surprise of the Day: Ariel fire! To get the disc in overtime! ONLY TO TURN IT OVER ALMOST IMMEDIATELY! Ariel you could've seen some nice "boobies" at Mardi Gras with that fire.
