The Emen headed into their first tournament of spring break, Southerns, as the 2nd seed overall. In Saturday pool play the Emen ran the table, striking early and fast and leaving other teams wondering what just hit them. The word unguardable gets thrown around a lot, but Adrian Banerji and Jack Hatchett sure seemed to fit the description as they repeatedly got open under and deep. The D-line got solid experience converting their breaks as they were constantly on the field. The day ended with the E-men 4-0 after beating Notre Dame B (13-2), Georgia Southern (13-4), Southern Polytech State (13-2) and North Park (13-4).

In the Championship bracket on Sunday Tufts played the winner of the pre-pre-quarters matchup NYU. The Emen handled NYU similar to the way that they handled teams on the first day. Efficient D-line breaks and smart decision making was key. Freshman Will Wong went into beast mode partway through the second half and helped put NYU away 13-4. In the Quarterfinals Tufts faced Notre Dame A, who gave the Emen their first challenge. The wind picked up and the Emen found their offensive intensity matched as Notre Dame went up a couple breaks early. Never afraid of adversity, Tufts fought back and took half, then stomped through the second half thanks to JTT and Piers anchoring the D-line. In true form the Emen never let up and took a 13-8 victory. In Semis Tufts faced South Florida, a rather unknown opponent. South Florida relied heavily on their deep game and the Emen shut it down early and often, converting breaks quickly after turns. Tufts took half 7-3 and then kept their foot on the gas pedal to make it a 13-4 victory and a spot in the Finals. The final against Central Florida was by far the most exciting game of the weekend. Tufts let up a few breaks early and were down in score and in energy. However, after a level-headed halftime speech from Captain/Guru Jay Clark, the Emen came out fired up. A break here and a break there began to add up and eventually Tufts pulled ahead 10-9. From then on out the Emen did work. A break came on a huck to JTT (Wildcard!) and the soft cap went on making it a game to 13. With the score 12-10, the D-line came down hard in a zone. After forcing a few dumps UCF tried to move it up the sideline but Adrian said NO and laid out for a tournament winning Callahan. And there was much rejoicing.
